The job

You will be preparing and serving breakfasts and lunches from both the hot and cold sections of the kitchen, including a wide range of our ever popular free from dishes, keeping up with the demand that the 270-seat restaurant and separate café brings. You'll work alongside the large brigade to undertake weekly and daily ordering from our suppliers and have a good awareness of supplier prices and menu costings, maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
As Sous Chef, you will be confident in running the pass in the absence of the Head Chef, directing staff in other sections whilst doing this.

What you'll need

Proven experience of working in a team, along with the ability to organise daily and weekly workload, adapting to changing priorities.
Ability to work across both the main and cold sections of the kitchen confidently.
Excellent allergen and special dietary knowledge with an interest to bring new ideas to the business
Effective multi-tasker – must be able to fit daily preparation duties around busy breakfast and lunch service whilst also assisting in training junior members of staff
Strong team player with good coaching skills with the ability to pick up, apply and teach new skills and methods quickly.
Positive and enthusiastic approach to work from the start to the end of each day

Where you'll be based

The restaurant is on the outskirts of Tiptree, Essex

What you'll receive

£33,000 per annum (£14.30 per hour, 44.5 hours per week)
No evenings or split shifts
At least one scheduled weekend off per month
30 days annual leave including bank holidays
