We are a longstanding, reputable and award-winning building contractor, renowned for our craftsmanship in the restoration and conservation of churches, private residential homes and notable historic buildings across East Anglia. With a strong pipeline of projects and a growing reputation for excellence, we are looking for a Site Manager to join our dedicated team.
The job
As Site Manager, you will be working closely with the directors, contracts managers and quantity surveyors. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of high-profile restoration projects, working predominantly on period properties. Project values ranging from £300k - £2million. Managing trades, liaising with clients and design teams, ensuring health and safety compliance, and delivering projects to the highest standards of traditional workmanship. Responsibilities will include:
- Supervise site operations and manage all subcontractors and trades on site
- Appreciation of traditional techniques required for period properties
- Ensure works are completed safely, on time, and within budget
- Maintain excellent communication with clients, architects, conservation officers, and the wider project team
- Uphold quality and heritage standards, ensuring compliance with conservation best practices
- Handle site documentation, risk assessments, and health & safety requirements
What you'll need
Proven experience managing restoration or conservation projects (particularly ecclesiastical or heritage buildings)
Experienced construction professional, preferably from a carpenter or bricklayer trade background
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Excelling knowledge of traditional building methods and materials
SMSTS/SSSTS and First Aid certification (preferred)
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
A passion for construction and proactive willingness to get involved with the team
A full UK driving license
Where you'll be based
Primarily across East Anglia – you must be willing to travel to various sites within the region. The head office is located outside of Bury St Edmunds, close to the A14.
What you'll receive
£50,000 - £53,000 per annum dependant on experience
Employed role (permanent contract)
