Pump Street Bakery offers outstanding bread and handmade pastries, all made daily by a small, close-knit team of bakers.

The job

As Head Baker you will manage and control the complete bakehouse operation, consisting of the bread and pastry sections, as well as the van and delivery driving, and take full management responsibility of the employees who work directly for the bakehouse functions

You'll take an active position on both the Product Development Team and the Online Team and be expected to help develop these areas to ensure growth for Pump Street Chocolate and Bakery alike. You'll work with all stakeholders within the group, and especially closely with the Shop Manager to ensure smooth day to day operation and that sales potential is met.

Within the production process you will oversee the bread and pastry production process whilst maintaining and monitoring HACCP, schedules, costs, and quality.

What you'll need

A keen interest in baking and pastry, and a love for food & drink
Experience in a food production environment
Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team
Able to work under pressure, meeting demands in regards to production and quality
Driving licence and transport due to location

Where you'll be based

The bakehouse is situated in Gedgrave, close to the village of Orford, on Suffolk’s heritage coast.

What you'll receive

£34,000 - £36,000 per annum dependent on experience
Two consecutive days off per week, working either Tuesday-Saturday or Wednesday-Sunday
Weekday shifts 4am-1pm or 7am-3pm, weekend shift 3am-11am
28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
