The job
As Financial Accountant you will be responsible for statutory and management reporting, financial controls, and accounting process improvement. You'll use your strong technical accounting skills to take hands‑on ownership of ledgers and cash while undertaking responsibilities including:
Prepare annual statutory financial statements managing the external auditors
Prepare all supporting schedules and adjustments
Produce monthly management accounts, P&L and balance sheet analyses, and variance commentary.
Prepare short‑ and medium‑term cash‑flow forecasts and working capital estimates
Understand and be able to run the sales, purchase and general ledgers along with payables, receivables and debtor control
Understand and be able to produce complete bank reconciliations, manage payment runs, and monitor cash positions
Prepare and submit VAT returns manage VAT reconciliations and queries
Oversee payroll processing, ensuring PAYE/NIC, pensions auto‑enrolment and statutory deductions are accurate and timely.
Manage P11D submissions
Use Sage, in‑house finance software, and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups; basic modelling).
Drive process standardisation and control improvements
Maintain full documentation of all procedures
Work with operational and commercial teams to understand and control costs, including supplier reviews and contract analysis.
You'll also assist with statutory filings to Companies House and submissions to the ICO; maintain statutory registers, and ensure compliance with internal policies, GDPR and data‑protection requirements.
What you'll need
A qualified accountant: ACA/ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience
Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and leading audits.
Strong technical accounting skills
Excellent Excel skills; comfortable with Sage and complementary finance systems, as well as a willingness to learn bespoke systems
High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Where you'll be based
The business is based close to the town of Saxmundham and the role is 100% office-based
What you'll receive
£50,000 - £55,000 per annum dependent on experience
Opportunity for your role to develop and progress and become a key member of the senior management team
Working Monday-Friday 8am-5:30pm
28 days annual leave
