The employer
Working across two private estates; a private family home comprising of ornamental gardens and orchard type land, plus a nearby trust-managed estate
The job
This role is split across two estates in close proximity to each other, with work split evenly between the two. You'll be primarily responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and gardens including, but not limited to, caring for the health of all plants, installing training & supports, managing the irrigation system, use of chemicals for weedkilling, fertilising & pest control, occasional mowing. For this you will use a variety of equipment including a strimmer, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, brushcutter, small tractor, and cylinder hand mower.
You'll also be responsible for general property maintenance including painting, repairs, gutter clearance, fencing, and more.
What you'll need
A knowledgeable and experienced gardener
Experience of property maintenance
An excellent timekeeper who is reliable and trustworthy
Ability to prioritise workload, working from a list of duties as part of the long-term garden plan
A positive approach to solve, rather than present, problems is important
Knowledge and experience of pesticides and chemical applications
Experience using chainsaws and other horticultural machinery
Chainsaw Maintenance/Crosscutting and PA1/PA6 desired but not essential
Love of the outdoors and working in all weathers
A Full UK driving licence and your own transport.
Where you'll be based
Both estates are based in the village of Benhall, near Saxmundham, Suffolk.
What you'll receive
£16.00 - £18.00 per hour dependent on experience
Working Monday - Friday 8:30am-4:30pm with 30 minute break (37.5 hour week)
Self-employed work, guaranteed 5 days per week across two 'employers'
