The employer
A private estate of some 3-4 acres, comprising lawns, formal borders, walled garden, and wild areas.
The job
You'll be solely responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the gardens, which are undergoing significant redevelopment to bring them back to their former glory - plans that you will very much be a part of. You'll maintain and develop the c.4 acre gardens, including mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, spraying, hedge-cutting, etc. You'll use your exceptional plant knowledge to work with the owners on development plans and planting schemes - a real opportunity to take ownership of the future of this historic garden.
What you'll need
A passionate horticulturalist with experience of country house gardening
An excellent timekeeper who is reliable and trustworthy
Ability to take instruction to complete necessary tasks, while remaining proactive and setting your own work
Experience using horticultural machinery
Self-starter able to prioritise own workload
Chainsaw Maintenance/Crosscutting and PA1/PA6 strongly desired
A Full UK driving licence and your own transport.
Where you'll be based
The estate is based close to the village of Tuddenham, a few miles north of Ipswich and west of Woodbridge.
What you'll receive
- £27,000 - £30,000 per annum as a full time salary, pro rata for part time, or equivalent self-employed rate
- Employed or self-employed
- Ideally part time, working 3 days per week (which could be spread over 5 short days/school hours)
- Full time considered
