The job

As Assistant Team Leader, you will work under guidance of the Team Leader to process, plant, maintain and harvest plants in the field as and when required. You'll undertake stock control of plants as well as materials, both on paper and electronically; lead small teams when picking orders; manage irrigation; husbandry maintenance; pest and disease control, biological as well as chemical.
You'll also assist the Field Team Leader with the preparation of field and plug plant material for planting.

What you'll need

An interest in and good working knowledge of plants
Able to lead and motivate a team
Enjoy working outdoors in all weathers
Ability to complete and maintain accurate written and data records
Punctual and loyal
A recognised horticultural qualification would be an advantage, as would spraying certificates
Forklift certificate desirable
Driving licence and transport due to rural location

Where you'll be based

The nursery is based near Wortham, Suffolk, in a rural location

What you'll receive

£25,000 - £27,000 per annum
Working 39 hours per week, with overtime available
Holiday entitlement of 24 days plus bank holidays
No main holidays to be taken in April and May
Closed for two weeks at Christmas.
