Two Magpies Bakery is an award-winning artisan bakery and café group with sites located across Norfolk and Suffolk. They are passionate about handcrafted sourdough breads, pastries, cakes and great coffee, all made using traditional methods and the highest quality local ingredients.

The job

As Head of Pastry you will lead the pastry production team and help shape the future of the pastry offering. Working closely with senior management, you’ll oversee daily production, seasonal menu development, stock management and team leadership. This is a key role in a growing business and offers the opportunity to influence product innovation and support the progression of the pastry department

Responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and plan pastry production schedules, working at least one week in advance to maximise productivity.
- Manage stock levels, ensuring consistent availability and smooth transitions between products.
- Lead and support the pastry team through regular 1:1s, probation reviews and annual appraisals
- Introduce and refine systems and processes that improve workflow and efficiency.
- Develop and trial new products in line with seasonal launches and brand direction.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and HACCP procedures and maintained

What you'll need

Passion for pastry and strong understanding of artisan production methods.
Experience working in catering, bakery or production kitchen environment.
Previous experience managing or leading a team (desirable but not essential).
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
A proactive, supportive and positive approach to teamwork.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ambition to learn, grow and contribute to a developing business.
Own transport due to location

Where you'll be based

The production facility is based in Walpole, close to Halesworth

What you'll receive

£35,000 - £37,500 per annum dependent on experience
Full time working 45 hours per week on a flexible schedule to include weekends (not every weekend!) and the occasional evening.
The pastry department operates between 5am and 12am, so flexibility is required.
Two consecutive days off per week
28 days annual leave
