The employer
A boutique countryside destination in a rural setting. The restaurant will operate 7 days per week, initially for lunch and dinner service. There is already a CDP and Sous Chef in place.
The job
As Head Chef you will lead the kitchen team to a bold Suffolk-African menu built around live-fire cooking, smoking techniques, and Josper-oven mastery.
You'll work closely with the Consultant Chef to develop menus, source ingredients, training staff, and build relationships with local suppliers.
You'll also design and execute bespoke menus for weddings and events, and oversee the kitchen garden where you will help to plan planting schedules and forage for the menus.
What you'll need
Experienced Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef looking to step up
Strong knowledge of seafood and meat, with a commitment to smoke-driven flavours
Good technical skills in smoking and charcoal grilling; experience of using Josper a bonus
Willingness to immerse yourself into learning African cuisine
Excellent budgeting and cost control
Inspiring leadership style
Driving licence and transport due to location

The venue is close to Dunwich, Suffolk, in a rural location
What you'll receive
£37,500 - £42,500 per annum (employed) dependent on experience
Share of tips and performance bonus
Working 45 hours per week
