The employer

An established private family residence set within a country estate in South Cambridgeshire. This is a very private, traditionally run estate whose owners possess a deep passion for, and exceptional knowledge of, the natural landscape. The principals work closely with leading specialists from across the country, reflecting a genuine commitment to stewardship and long-term conservation.

This is a rare opportunity to join a private estate where the preservation, care, and presentation of the grounds are held in the highest regard.

The job

The successful candidate will work as part of a small, dedicated estate team, supporting the ongoing care and maintenance of the grounds, woodlands, and wider estate.

This is a varied and hands-on role, ideally suited to someone who enjoys practical outdoor work within a private estate environment.

Duties will include but are not limited to:
General estate maintenance, including upkeep of grounds, tracks, and boundaries
Assisting with woodland management and tree work
Hedge cutting, strimming, and vegetation control
Supporting planting projects and seasonal estate tasks
Operating and maintaining estate machinery and equipment
Assisting with fencing, repairs, and general estate improvements
Supporting storm clearance and general tidiness across the estate

The role is physically demanding and will require working outdoors in all weather conditions.

What you'll need

Proven experience in estate work, grounds maintenance, or a similar hands-on outdoor role
Practical skills and a willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks
Experience using machinery such as strimmers, chainsaws, and tractors
CS30, CS31, & CS32. NPTC City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue (formerly CS38)
Obtainable references from recent employers
Willingness to undertake a DBS check
An enjoyment of the countryside and rural living
Physically fit with a strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
Kind, good communication skills and attention to detail
A full, clean UK driving licence

Where you'll be based

South Cambridgeshire, approximately seven miles south of Cambridge.

What you'll receive

£26,500 per annum
Full-time permanent employment based on a minimum of 40 hours per week
