The employer

A privately owned and managed country estate located in the Suffolk Coastal region, encompassing multiple residential and commercial properties, and hundreds of acres of woodland, grasslands, and parkland.

The job

Potentially a job for life, for the right person.

You'll be a key part of our estate maintenance and forestry team in a role that offers huge variety. As Estate Foreman, you will report to the Head of Maintenance & Forestry, spending part of your time absorbing his lifetime of knowledge of the estate with a long-term view of taking over the role at some stage.

3-6 months of the year will be spent predominantly on forestry activities, with the rest of the year focusing on ditching, fencing, hedge-cutting, and clearing, using a range of in-house machinery. You'll also help cover the maintenance of our many properties; anything from assisting with full property refurbishments to emptying the bins at our commercial sites and everything in between!

What you'll need

A passion for the outdoors, nature, and the environment, and be used to physical work in all weather conditions.
Background in estate work, forestry, agriculture, or similar
Experience of using a wide-range of horticultural and agricultural machinery and equipment, including tractors, diggers, mowers etc.
Chainsaw tickets, PA1/PA6, manual handling, first aid, health & safety certification etc. all advantageous but extensive training will be provided to the right candidate
An interest in helping drive the existing health & safety work by continuous improvement through proactive input.
Ability to conduct basic property maintenance, with the support of a team of tradesmen
You must be a real team player, able to follow instruction as well as lead by example with your work ethic
An ability to prioritise your workload and react to situations that arise
A Full UK driving licence.

Where you'll be based

The estate is located in the southern part of the Suffolk Coastal region.

- £30,000 per annum, or potentially more dependent on experience
- Full time permanent employment
