The employer

Walsingham Estate is a 5,000 acre rural Estate located in and around the village of Little Walsingham. The Estate is a land and property based business which comprises a large in-hand arable farm, let agricultural, residential and commercial property, woodland and a vineyard. It also includes a visitor enterprise centred around the ruins of the original medieval shrine, the Priory of Our Lady of Walsingham, in the Abbey Grounds together with a museum and car parks. Walsingham Abbey Grounds are open throughout the year and attract visitors from around the globe.

The job

As Estate Accountant you will be responsible for the hands-on delivery of the accounting and finance requirements for the Walsingham Estate. You will oversee the accounting operations of several companies, including: daily bookkeeping; bank reconciliation; the management of cash flow; payroll; quarterly VAT returns; inter-company re-charges; the preparation of budgets and forecasts; and the provision of management accounts.

In addition, you will hold responsibility for the collection and administration of rent payments for the estate properties, including raising rent demands, reconciliation, and processing rent increases. You will also oversee fleet management and renewals of various insurances as required.

There will also be an opportunity to offer strategic financial advice on matters related to the various businesses, to provide and analyse financial data and performance to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

What you'll need

Considerable experience as an accountant or finance professional, preferably from an estate, farming, or rural industry background
Experienced in, and happy working within, a close-knit office environment
Qualifications such as ACCA or, at minimum, AAT4, preferred
Knowledge of accounting software (Landmark KeyPrime, FarmPlan Business Manager)
Excellent data management & analytical skills
A good communicator and team player
Impeccable attention to detail and an ability to solve problems as they arise
Well-presented and professional manner

Where you'll be based

The estate office is in the village of Walsingham, in beautiful North Norfolk

What you'll receive

£50,000 - £60,000 per annum dependent on experience
Full time role working Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Annual leave entitlement of 28 day inclusive of bank holidays
Life Assurance Scheme
Pension Scheme – the employer will make regular contributions of 5% of basic salary
