The company


The Bell Hotel is a 19th century coaching inn, one of the last to be built in the UK, that has undergone recent, extensive renovations and is fast-establishing itself as a coveted destination for locals and tourists alike. The hotel has two dining rooms, a bar, and currently 10 letting rooms, with more to be added later in the year. Fantastic, newly installed commercial kitchen with extensive, all-electric, equipment list.

 

The job


As Head Chef, you'll oversee all kitchen operations, leading and inspiring a brigade of four with a calm and encouraging management style. Your creativity will stimulate our guests to return time and again, using seasonally available local produce to develop new and exciting menus. We pride ourselves on cooking to a two AA rosette standard and you will be the driving force behind championing this. Additional duties to include rota management, ordering, chef recruitment and development, ownership of hygiene compliance.

 

What you'll need


A passion for cooking high quality food, preferably to a two AA rosette standard

Experience as a Head Chef, or an experienced Sous Chef looking to progress

A hands-on and lead-by-example work style to deliver an exceptional performance and guest experience

A commitment to developing staff to their full potential

Understanding of wider hotel operations and how they may effect the kitchen

The Bell Hotel is based in Saxmundham, Suffolk, a historic market town that is beginning to realise its potential.

 

What you'll receive


- £37,000 - £40,000 per annum dependent on experience

- Performance bonuses based on delivery (c.15%)

- Gratuities (c.£200-£400 pm)

- Long service awards

- Short term accommodation while you're settling should you be relocating

- Two days off per week

- 47.5 hour working week (9 hour day with 30 minute unpaid break)

- 28 days annual leave, rising to 34 days after 5 years of service (including bank holidays)
