A private estate of some 3-4 acres, comprising lawns, greenhouses, ornamental beds, and a 0.5 acre walled garden.
You'll be solely responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and gardens including, but not limited to, mowing and care of large lawn areas (the estate owns 2x ride-on mowers); weeding, pruning, potting, and planting of beds and walled garden areas; tending to various fruit trees, including indoor peach trees; spraying of weeds and nettles; chopping firewood and replenishing stock in the house; basic maintenance of garden outbuildings; tending to chickens and geese; any other duties as required by the owners.
As the replacement for a retiring staff member of 30 years, there is a job for life for the right character who wishes to take on a long-term project of bringing the gardens back to their former glory.
What you'll need
Experience in an estate/groundsman type position, with a bias to the horticultural side of the work
An excellent timekeeper who is reliable and trustworthy
Ability to take instruction to complete necessary tasks, while remaining proactive and setting your own work
Experience using chainsaws and other horticultural machinery
Self-starter able to prioritise own workload
Chainsaw Maintenance/Crosscutting and PA1/PA6 strongly desired
A Full UK driving licence and your own transport.

The estate is based close to Wickham Market, a short distance from the A12.

- £24,000 - £27,000 per annum dependent on experience
