Accounts Assistant


The company

A long-established farming and horticultural group of companies of c.£7m turnover, based in the stunning Suffolk countryside.


The job

Based at the head office, you will support the Group Financial Controller in the efficient running of the accounts function, whilst working under the guidance of the Senior Accounts Assistant. You will play a key role in ensuring the accounts office functions effectively in line with both senior management and customers' expectations. There is a 'one team' environment, a team that are trustworthy & reliable, with a passionate can-do attitude, where attention to detail matters and everyone takes ownership of tasks.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Purchase ledger duties to include scanning/saving, coding and posting of purchase invoices, payments, account maintenance and statement reconciliations

- Sales ledger duties to include raising invoices, customer receipts and basic credit control.

- Answering customer and supplier telephone and email enquiries.

- Expense claims.

- Any other ad hoc administrative duties as required by the company.

With a view to expanding into the following, in time:

- Entering bank payments, receipts and performing bank reconciliations.

- Maintaining intercompany reconciliations and recharges.

- Reviewing and carrying out VAT returns (monthly and quarterly).


What you'll need

Experience in a similar environment, working in a multi-company environment a bonus.

A solid understanding of Sage50

Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Ability to interpret numbers and financial information

High degree of accuracy in data input and reporting

A Full UK driving licence and own transport

Ability to prioritise own workload


Where you'll be based

A farm-based office close to Snape and Saxmundham.


What you'll receive

- £24,000 - £26,000 per annum dependent on experience

- Employed role (permanent contract)

- Full time hours, working Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm (30 minute unpaid lunch)

- 28 days annual leave (pro rata)
